Ghanaian midfielder William Bediako has joined Spanish side Atletico Madrid, where he is expected to feature for the club’s Under-19 team after leaving Ghana Premier League outfit Berekum Chelsea.
The 18-year-old’s move was confirmed by Berekum Chelsea, who wished the attacking midfielder well as he begins the next stage of his career in Spain.
“We are excited to announce that our attacking midfielder, William Bediako, has signed for Atlético de Madrid. Everyone at the club wishes William Bediako all the very best,” the club said in a statement.
Bediako has already gained experience in Spanish youth football, having featured for Trival Valderas Alcorcón’s Under-19 side before the move to Atlético.
He made his senior Ghana Premier League debut for Berekum Chelsea in October 2024, aged 16. He went on to make 30 league appearances for the club across the 2024/25 and 2025/26 seasons.
His move offers an opportunity to develop within the academy of one of Spain’s leading clubs and test himself in European youth competition.
Bediako is expected to link up with his new teammates immediately ahead of Tuesday’s UEFA Youth League fixture against Stuttgart. The team is chasing their second win in the league phase, following a 2-2 draw away to Liverpool and a 3-0 victory over Manchester United.
