When he’s not beating opponents up inside the octagon, UFC lightweight champion Justin Gaethje can often times be found a golf course. “The Highlight” is an avid golfer. His social media is filled with him hitting the links with famous celebrities and other fighters.
Gaethje last fought at the UFC Freedom 250 event on the White House lawn in June. He captured the UFC lightweight championship by making Ilia Topuria quit on the stool after the fourth frame. Since then, the 37-year-old has been recovering, traveling and, of course, golfing.
“I got to go home and recover a little bit for three weeks. I still can’t punch anything. Both of my hands are still hurt from the fight. It’s crazy, but for the last four or five weeks I’ve just traveling and doing all kinds of amazing things. Lots of golf. Lots of golf,” Gaethje told In The Corner with Destiny McCubbin.
He recently returned from playing in a charity golf tournament hosted by former featherweight champion and BMF titleholder Max Holloway in Hawaii. Gaethje has hosted four charity tournaments himself and has one scheduled in November in his hometown in Arizona.
Gaethje has shared a cart with numerous people but there’s one person he hasn’t that’s on his bucket list. He wants to golf with President Donald Trump and might get to cross that item off his list soon.
Gaethje recently returned to the White House with his family to have lunch with the president. During that lunch, he got an invite.
“He’s told me we’re golfing. We’re not good friends, but he loves to golf. I told him I’d bet him money,” said Gaethje. “Me and my parents went to the White House like three weeks ago and we had lunch there. And he said we were going to golf for money. If I could take the president’s money, that would be awesome.”
