LeBron James is getting some perhaps unwanted attention for what he did during the national anthem ahead of the Philadelphia 76ers facing the New York Knicks on opening night.
A video shows the new 76ers star practising his golf swing and shooting air hoops while the anthem was playing, which he has received backlash for.
President Donald Trump took issue with James’ actions and former ESPN analyst Linda Cohn has now spoken out against what LeBron was doing.
Within a video posted to her Instagram, Cohn said LeBron was ‘acting like a three-year-old’ before doubling down and suggesting he was behaving like ‘a three-year-old who can’t sit still’.
Now, actor Jamie Foxx has come to the defence of James in the comments section of Linda’s post.
Foxx made two separate comments on the post. In one, he wrote: “LeBron is the algorithm… you have to mention his name in order to get someone to listen to you sad but true.”
In the other, he stated: “If LeBron wasn’t in the league, it would be boring so I get it… go with what works… when you’re irrelevant… Bash LeBron.”
While LeBron may be getting some backlash off the court, his new side have enjoyed a great start to the season.
They beat the defending champions to kick off the campaign and they most recently secured a 114-106 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers.
