A Manhattan neurologist was charged with sexually abusing two of his patients under the guise of giving them massages in a closed-door examination room, prosecutors said.
Dr. Tariq Lamki, 51, was indicted this week on charges tied to the alleged attacks at his practice, 14th Street Medical Arts, located near Stuyvesant Town-Peter Cooper Village, the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office said Tuesday.
Prosecutors said the depraved doctor sexually abused two patients, a 32-year-old woman and a 23-year-old woman, in a span of just over a week in August and September.
On August 25, the creep told the victim to lie on her back on the examination table so he could “relieve physical stress” after she complained of a migraine and dizziness, according to the indictment against Lamki.
He then allegedly started inappropriately touching the victim’s body, including her private parts, before she overpowered the doctor and sat up, the court documents state.
The sicko still offered to “go to your house and give you massages,” anything he was off the clock, to the disgusted victim, according to prosecutors.
Then on September 2, Lamki allegedly brought the second victim into the exam room where he started massaging her back — only to then touch her buttocks and slip his hands under her skirt, the indictment said.
The victim attempted to stand up but was unable to because Lamki had his weight on top of her, according to prosecutors.
Lamki then allegedly instructed her to lie on her back, grabbed her breasts and continued to fondle her private parts, the court documents state.
The abuse only ended when the doctor moved the victim upright and then told her to consider using a “vaginal wand” to help relieve neurological pain, prosecutors claimed.
The victim allegedly recorded the entire interaction where she can be heard swatting at Lamki while telling him that her pain was “not there” as he sexually abused her, according to prosecutors.
Lamki is charged with two counts each of first-degree sexual abuse, forcible touching and third-degree sexual abuse.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges before Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Cori Weston, who set bail at $25,000, court records show. Prosecutors had sought to lock Lamki up on $100,000 cash bail.
“A doctor’s appointment should never end in sexual abuse,” Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg said said in a statement. “This investigation is ongoing. I urge anyone who has been assaulted by a doctor to call our Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Bureau at 212-335-4308.”
Lamki’s attorney, George Vomvolakis, and 14th Street Medical Arts did not immediately return requests for comment.
If convicted of first-degree sexual abuse, Lamki faces a maximum sentence of seven years in prison.
He is due back in court on January 20
