The NSW government has appointed an interim administrator for Clarence Valley Council after a decision by the council to seek an external investigation.
Experienced local government executive John Rayner will be the interim administrator for Clarence Valley Council whilst an independent investigation is underway.
The council unanimously voted to launch an external investigation in response to concerns about governance, administration, operations, and financial management.
In a statement this week, Local Government Minister Ron Hoenig said Clarence Valley Council would be suspended for three months while the probe was underway.
“I have … appointed Mr John Rayner, PSM, as interim administrator because I reasonably believe his appointment is necessary to restore the proper or effective functioning of the council,” Hoenig said.
