Myles Turner doubled down on Taylor Jenkins’ take about the Milwaukee Bucks’ 128-116 road loss to the Washington Wizards on Wednesday, saying the game was a huge learning experience for the team, which is currently in its rebuilding phase.
Turner felt the Milwaukee Bucks missed a golden opportunity to notch their first win of the 2026-27 campaign, especially since they led most of the game. Milwaukee built a 96-90 lead early in the fourth quarter before Washington went on a 21-2 run to shift the momentum.
What Myles Turner said about the Milwaukee Bucks’ opener vs. Washington Wizards
Myles Turner is embracing his veteran leadership role with the Milwaukee Bucks. After Wednesday’s loss, he urged his teammates to continue developing good habits that will eventually translate to on-court success.
“My message to the team after the game was, fellas, from the first preseason game to where we’re at now, we’ve gotten a lot better,” Turner said. “And one of the things I hate that people say, but it’s true, is that ‘It’s a long season.’ Yeah, it’s the first game, but if you keep looking at it like, ‘ Hey, it’s a long season, you feel like, ‘OK, we’ll get there eventually.’ That’s not really our mindset. Obviously, we’re building and want to get better every single night, but I think we took a step in the right direction tonight.”
Tyler Herro sticks to the positives in the Milwaukee Bucks’ performance
Tyler Herro led the Milwaukee Bucks with 24 points, nine assists, and four three-pointers on 9-for-21 shooting in his official debut for his hometown team. After the game, the one-time All-Star lauded the team’s willingness to share the rock, as they had 28 assists on 41 field goals made.
“I thought we moved the ball well at times. It got a little sticky, I think, when they went on a run a little bit… I think when we were under control and getting the ball to where it needs to go, and then guys were just playing the right way and making the right decisions, we got the shots we wanted,” Herro said.
