First lady Kim Hye-kyung highlighted the cultural value of hanbok, Korea's traditional attire, at a ceremony marking the 2026 Hanbok Culture Week held on the 21st at the National Museum of Korea in Seoul's Yongsan District.
"Hanbok is a cultural heritage that represents South Korea and a core asset of K-culture," Kim said in a congratulatory address. "I hope a culture spreads in which people naturally share the beauty of hanbok not only on special occasions but also in daily life."
She added that as an honorary ambassador for hanbok, she would work to promote its beauty and value.
Earlier in the day, Kim took part in a campaign at Gyeongbokgung Palace encouraging the proper wearing of hanbok, where she toured an exhibition and posed for photos with foreign tourists.
