According to Yen.com.gh, he was taken to a nearby hospital where doctors confirmed he was dead on arrival. His family had not issued a formal statement at the time reports emerged.
GHOne TV and Citi Newsroom were among the first outlets to break the news, which quickly swept across social media and left many Ghanaians struggling to process the loss.
The man behind Judge Koboo
Dzokoto earned his place in Ghanaian households through decades of work across television, radio and film. His most iconic role was Judge Koboo in TV3's long-running sitcom Efiewura, a character that made him a fan favourite across generations.
He later hosted Edziban, a popular television programme dedicated to celebrating local cuisine and Ghanaian food culture, and appeared in productions including Osumesi, For Girls, Monster and Wazenger.
Away from the screen, he was a committed member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and stood as a parliamentary candidate for the Tarkwa-Nsuaem constituency in 2016, also contributing to the party's Tourism, Arts and Culture manifesto.
In recent years he had been candid about serious health challenges, including high blood pressure, diabetes and heart complications.
He held an LLB and in August 2025 graduated with a Master of Science in Defence and International Politics from the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College. Just last month, he had publicly dismissed circulating rumours about his death.
His last Facebook post resurfaces
The timing of Dzokoto's final social media post has added an especially poignant dimension to his passing. Exactly one week before he died, on 15 October 2026, he shared a video of President John Mahama breaking ground on the 1,238-acre Afienya Industrial Park in Greater Accra Region, a flagship project under the government's 24-hour economy agenda.
In the caption, he expressed enthusiastic support for the NDC government's development vision, drawing comparisons between Ghana's potential and the transformations witnessed in Dubai and Côte d'Ivoire.
He concluded with a personal appeal that now reads as his final public words: "Ghanaians must give NDC some time to build our country. JM Se Menhyia."
The post has since attracted thousands of reactions from fans who described it as deeply moving given what followed.
Tributes have continued to flow in from across the country, with many remembering him for beloved catchphrases such as "Edziban a dzidzi" and "Obo Twumlaa," and for the warmth and laughter he brought to Ghanaian screens for so many years.
Chivayo's gift to Sugar Sugar
We also highlighted facts about Sugar Sugar’s Toyota Fortuner, which he says he received from the late businessman Wicknell Chivayo without its registration book.
The car dealer says around 15 vehicles supplied to Chivayo remain unpaid for as his estate is finalised, leaving the musician’s ownership of the Fortuner uncertain.
