Coach Kyle Shanahan’s San Francisco 49ers faced a tough test on Monday Night Football in Week 6, welcoming the Washington Commanders to Levi’s Stadium amid a positive Mike Evans injury update. Another well known Brock Purdy weapon was ruled out as Purdy got an endorsement from general manager John Lynch before the game.
Lynch’s pride for his star quarterback was palpable as he explained it to Pat McAfee before the big game.
“He’s a stud, he has been from the time he got here. I tell people all the time, don’t count your reps, make your reps count…He’s not being safe, he’s ripping (the ball) in tight windows, ever since then we knew we had a player. He’s done nothing but get better this entire time.”

McAfee shared with Lynch that Purdy is five pass attempts from becoming the NFL’s all-time leader for best passer rating. As Purdy continues to evolve, the record books, and a potential Super Bowl, are both becoming clear goals as the 49ers star makes the most out of the opportunities he’s been given with one of the league’s top franchises.
Purdy received a co-MVP take from Colin Cowherd earlier this week, and fans around the NFL are starting to take notice. The 49ers are 5-0 with a revolving door of a supporting cast, and Purdy has made the most of it each week in the Bay Area. A win over the Commanders would draw the 49ers closer to home field advantage in the playoffs, something that could make a big difference considering how well Purdy and his teammates play at home.
Purdy doesn’t get the same type of hype of guys like Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes, but he has the talent, and the work ethic, to get the most out of his considerable skills in a way that few other quarterbacks are capable of doing.
