Visakhapatnam MP M. Sribharat, along with TDP State president and Gajuwaka MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao, laid the foundation stone for a modern sports complex to be developed by the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) at Pedagantyada, at an estimated cost of ₹9.09 crore.
Spread across six acres, the proposed sports complex will feature a wide range of facilities catering to various sporting disciplines. The project includes a main cricket ground with a diameter of 120 metres, two practice pitches, two basketball courts, a skating rink, a tennis court and a volleyball court.
To promote physical fitness and encourage public participation in recreational activities, the complex will also feature an open gym and a jogging track measuring 484 metres in length and three metres in width around the cricket ground. Additional amenities planned as part of the project include spectator galleries, an administrative building, landscaped green spaces, gazebos, pergolas, seating arrangements and parking facilities on three sides of the complex.
The MP stated that the proposed sports complex would provide a much-needed platform for young people and aspiring sportspersons from Pedagantyada and surrounding areas to practise, train, and improve their skills across different sporting disciplines.
Mr. Palla Srinivasa Rao expressed confidence that the new sports complex would greatly benefit local youth and sportspersons.
