CHANGWON — Kyungnam Energy (008020) said it visited a household with children in need of better living conditions on the 16th and installed new wallpaper and flooring, working with the Gyeongnam regional headquarters of ChildFund Korea. The project, called "Into a Home Worthy of the Name," began in 2009 and is now in its 17th year.
Choi Byung-hoon, head of the company's management support division, joined other employees in the volunteer work, helping clean the home and replace the wallpaper and flooring.
The program aims to provide a proper living space for local households with children that need housing improvements. Each year, Kyungnam Energy and ChildFund Korea select two households and provide repairs tailored to each family's situation, including new wallpaper and flooring and bathroom renovations.
"For children, a home is more than a place to stay. It is the ground on which they nurture dreams and grow up healthy," Shin Chang-dong, chief executive of Kyungnam Energy, said on the 20th. "We will continue warm sharing with the local community so that children can envision a bright future in a safer and more comfortable environment."
Beyond housing improvements, Kyungnam Energy works with ChildFund Korea on other social contribution activities, including support for heating and cooling costs and supplies for children in vulnerable groups.
