The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability, and proper record-keeping as preparations begin for the 2027 general elections in Zamfara State.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Dr Mahmud Isah, disclosed this on Wednesday in Gusau during a stakeholders’ meeting on preparations for the elections and the collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
Isah said the successful conduct of the 2027 general elections would require meticulous planning, efficient deployment of resources, effective security coordination, continuous voter education, and the cooperation of all stakeholders.
He appreciated stakeholders for their support and contributions to the successful implementation of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.

The commissioner also acknowledged the display of the Register of Voters for Claims and Objections and the ward-level PVC collection exercise, which ended on Thursday, October 15, 2026.
He said the exercises reaffirmed the collective commitment of stakeholders to peaceful, transparent, inclusive and credible elections in Zamfara State.
“As of the 2023 General Elections, Zamfara State recorded 1,952,060 registered voters. Furthermore, the Continuous Voter Registration exercise recorded 313,115 registrations as of August 2026, representing approximately 16.04% of the 2023 registered-voter figure.
“These figures underscore the importance of sustained voter mobilisation, effective public enlightenment and the need to maintain an accurate, credible and inclusive Register of Voters.”
Isah urged traditional rulers, religious leaders, political parties, community leaders, civil society organisations, youth and women’s groups, and the media to intensify public awareness campaigns on PVC collection.
“The Commission remains committed to transparency, accountability and proper record-keeping throughout PVC collection,” he reaffirmed.
Officials of INEC, security agencies, political parties, traditional institutions and the media attended the stakeholders’ meeting.
