Whenever I think of classic Western movies, one iconic image usually pops into my head: Clint Eastwood in The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, arguably one of the greatest Westerns ever made. But the genre has given us plenty of other iconic films and epic showdowns, too, with a few that immediately spring to mind being John Wayne in The Searchers, Steve McQueen in The Magnificent Seven (1960), and Charles Bronson in Once Upon a Time in the West.
And while I love so many of the classic Westerns from the '50s, '60s, and '70s, there's one "newer" film that's been on my mind lately after giving it a rewatch: 3:10 to Yuma.
Released in 2007 and directed by James Mangold, 3:10 to Yuma is a remake of the 1957 Western of the same name, starring an iconic duo: Russell Crowe and Christian Bale. And while I'd never really pictured Gladiator star Russell Crowe in a Western, or Christian Bale, best known for playing Batman, I can safely say that after watching 3:10 to Yuma, both fit the Wild West perfectly.
If you've never seen 3:10 to Yuma, it follows rancher Dan Evans (Christian Bale), who agrees to escort notorious outlaw Ben Wade (Russell Crowe) to a train bound for Yuma Prison. But with Wade's ruthless gang hot on their heels and Wade himself proving far more cunning than expected, Evans soon finds himself in a dangerous battle of wits as he tries to get Wade onto the 3:10 train to Yuma.
Now, if that sparks your interest and you've never seen 3:10 to Yuma, or you think it's time for a much-deserved rewatch, fortunately, you can stream the film completely free right now on this streaming service.
3:10 to Yuma is available on Plex
However, it won't remain free for much longer
While Plex was originally known as a media server app, it launched its own free, ad-supported streaming service in 2019, joining the likes of The Roku Channel, Pluto TV, and Tubi. Today, it offers thousands of free movies to stream, and one of them is 3:10 to Yuma.
That means you can watch 3:10 to Yuma completely free on Plex, though you'll have to sit through a few ads along the way, since it is a free, ad-supported streaming service, after all.
One thing to keep in mind, however, is that 3:10 to Yuma is only available on Plex until October 31st. So, if you're looking for something to watch this weekend, it's the perfect candidate.
Alternatively, if you'd like an ad-free experience, 3:10 to Yuma is available to buy on Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango. And for physical media collectors, you can also get it on 4K UHD from Amazon.
