CARL JUNCTION, MO — Despite tying the Eagles early, Carl Junctions' Bulldogs could not find an answer to Joplin's offense in their matchup, losing 5-2.
The Eagles struck early on a goal from forward Landon Frounfelter before the Bulldogs would come back to tie it in the first half.
The Eagles maintained offensive pressure on both halves of the field, keeping possession and threatening CJ's defense with corner and free kicks — as well as shots on goal.
In the second half, the flood gates opened, with a long goal from Briar Ledford that was tipped in by CJ's goalkeeper Van Wohlenhaus — jump starting the Eagles' offense and setting them up for their next three.
The Bulldogs would score one more before final time was called, but despite their efforts — would not be able to answer the call late.
Joplin will play Webb City their next time on the pitch — and Carl Junction will play Cassville.
