NIBONG TEBAL: The RM2,500 cost-of-living allowance for Form 6 students will be distributed over the three semesters in a year, says education minister Fadhlina Sidek.
Fadhlina said students will begin receiving their allowance in the first semester of next year, once they have completed their registration.
“The RM2,500 is for three semesters. That works out to slightly more than RM800 per semester,” she told reporters in Taman Widuri, Sungai Bakap, here.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced the allowance when tabling the 2027 budget on Oct 9, saying it would benefit about 90,000 Form Six students nationwide.
The amount matches the allowance given to matriculation students.
Anwar had first announced plans for the allowance in August, saying Form Six students were not receiving the same financial support available to students at other levels of education.
