Jerimiah Selassie Bartlett has become the first person to be convicted before the newly established gun court, admitting to possession of a pistol and seven rounds of ammunition.
The Fernihurst, Black Rock resident appeared before Justice Douglas Frederick in the No. 2 Supreme Court and pleaded guilty to possessing a .40-calibre S&W SIG pistol and seven rounds of ammunition on January 3, 2026.
Attorney Kyle Walkes, holding for defence counsel Safiya Moore, represented Bartlett and waived a pre-sentencing report.
Principal State Counsel Rudolph Burnett, who is prosecuting the case, will read the facts on October 23.
