GOLD COAST, October 2026 — George Calombaris will join chefs Vikki Moursellas and Anna Polyviou at the inaugural Gold Coast Greek Festival at HOTA, Home of the Arts, on Saturday 31 October and Sunday 1 November.
Organisers said the three chefs would lead the festival’s cooking program, which will celebrate Greek food, family recipes and the traditions that have connected generations of Greek families.
Polyviou, a pastry chef and television personality, will appear alongside her mother, Gina. Moursellas, a Greek-Australian chef and television personality, completes the line-up in the Lakeside Room across the weekend.
Calombaris said the event was a chance to share the food and culture he grew up with.
“Greek food is about so much more than what’s on the plate. It’s about family, generosity and bringing people together. The Gold Coast Greek Festival is a great opportunity to celebrate those traditions and share the food and culture I grew up with.”

During the weekend, festival-goers can watch cooking demonstrations and try traditional Greek dishes and sweet treats, organisers said. Local Greek associations will also serve traditional family recipes.
Moursellas said some of the best Greek food was the food people grew up eating at home, with recipes passed down through generations.
“I’m excited to be part of a festival that celebrates those flavours and gives people a chance to experience Greek food and hospitality,” Moursellas said.
Similarly, Polyviou pointed to the link between food and heritage. “Food has an incredible way of bringing people together, and Greek culture does that so beautifully,” Polyviou said.
Greek City Times previously reported on the festival line-up, which also includes music, dancing and Saturday night fireworks over Evandale Lake.
Festival dates and tickets
George Mastrocostas, Honorary Consul-General of Greece in Queensland, conceived the festival, which runs under his patronage. It brings together Hellenic community organisations from across Queensland, and organisers expect 10,000 people across the weekend.
In addition to the food, the program features dance, music and storytelling, with young Greek Australians helping to bring their heritage to life, organisers said.
“This is not a festival only for Greeks,” Mastrocostas said.
All proceeds will support Greek community associations and the Greek diaspora across Queensland, organisers said.
The festival runs from 12pm to 10pm on Saturday 31 October and from 10am to 4pm on Sunday 1 November at HOTA, 135 Bundall Road, Surfers Paradise. Adult tickets cost $10 per day and children under 13 enter free, with details at the Gold Coast Greek Festival website.
