PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has called on the 21 Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa member states to trade more with each other before looking elsewhere.
Speaking during the 25th COMESA Heads of State and Government Summit in Harare, Zimbabwe, Hichilema said increased intra-regional trade will lead to more jobs and business opportunities for all.
The President said he assumed the role of Vice-Chairperson of COMESA on behalf of Zambia, and during the summit, handed over a certificate of title deed for member states to build a new COMESA headquarters in Lusaka.
The Grow Zambia Agenda also topped his discussions at the summit, with a call on citizens to continue contributing towards the goal.
Hichilema witnessed the handing over of the Chairmanship role to Zimbabwean President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa by outgoing Chairperson and Kenyan President William Samoei Ruto.
The President said he has since left for Lusaka, Zambia, remaining committed to delivering for the people and growing Zambia.
