“Welcome to Jemima’s house of horrors,” quips Jemima Kirke in her signature deadpan tone.
So the actress begins her “GRWM” Instagram Reel, which is filled with Merit makeup favorites. And, with the announcement that “Girls” is returning, it’s an opportune time to revisit the inventive beauty hacks she shared this summer (along with her hilarious commentary).
In the partnered post, Kirke begins by applying the Minimalist Complexion Stick. While it’s a foundation-concealer hybrid, she says she never applies it under her eyes. (“A little bit of circles under the eyes is kind of sexy,” she explains.)
Tips for the consummate It-girl look keep coming; Kirke pops Flush Balm Blush in Beverly Hills — a best seller beloved by everyone from Katie Holmes to Martha Stewart — on her cheeks, plus the Bronze Balm in Seine.
Admitting that her “Girls” character Jessa was more like her than she’d initially acknowledged to fans — and even to herself — Kirke also recalls how her real-life bouts of eczema during the last few seasons inspired a creative camouflage that’s still a part of her look today.

“We started doing red eye makeup — and sometimes I still do,” she adds, while applying the Signature Lip Liner in Rose under her eyes for a soft, romantic contrast. (“You see? It’s kinda cute,” she says.)
The multi-hyphenate artist then swipes on the Signature Lip Blush in Andie, a universally flattering neutral pink. With a lightweight feel, balmy texture and sheer matte finish, it’s perfect as a daily staple.
In addition to applying Brow 1980 in Taupe on her eyebrows for a fluffy, defined look, Kirke’s effortlessly cool makeup hacks also extend to her lashes.
“This is a little technique I have,” she says, while using Clean Volume Tubing Mascara. “When I do my mascara, I like to blink heavily so it gets a little bit on the bottom without me having to touch it.”

She also reflects on the early days of “Girls” in the candid clip, saying she initially told Lena Dunham she thought it was stupid and “no one’s going to like it.” Though she concedes she may have been wrong, she cheekily jokes that she’s “still on the fence about it.”
Whether eagerly awaiting the HBO show’s five-episode limited return or just looking for a fresh fall beauty stash, consider adding Kirke’s favorites to cart.
