KOTA TINGGI: Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) suspects vandalism at its substation along Jalan Besar Felda Adela, where a man was found dead early today.
In a statement, TNB said its technical team was sent to the site after receiving a report of an electrical accident involving a member of the public on Oct 12.
"The incident is believed to be linked to vandalism. TNB will provide full support and cooperation to the authorities in their investigations," it said.
TNB also warned the public against tampering with or approaching electrical installations, saying this could result in serious injury or death.
Earlier, Kota Tinggi police chief Superintendent Yusof Othman said police received a report at 6.46am of an unconscious man at Km 21 of the road towards Sungai Rengit.
The man was found about 20m from the roadside, near the substation.
Several tools, including a hoe, cordless grinder, metal hammer, pipe wrench and headlamp, were found nearby.
"He is suspected to have died while attempting to steal electrical cables," Yusof said.
