Footage has emerged of Bukayo Saka in serious discomfort after Arsenal’s 2-2 draw with Bayern Munich.
Arteta then confirmed afterwards that Saka sustained a quad issue, in a very concerning update.
“We lost Bukayo, who actually was having a great game," Arteta said. "They are a bit concerned.
“A player that has to come off with a really sharp pain is never good news but we have to wait and see."
It has since been reported that Saka was due to undergo a scan on Thursday to determine the severity of the injury, though he was spotted by Sun reporter Simon Collings limping out of the Allianz Arena.
Perhaps one positive for Arsenal supporters is that the 25-year-old did not require crutches - which was the case in December 2024 upon being forced off against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
Arteta is expected to provide more detail on Saka’s injury in Friday’s pre-Everton press conference, though the England international is certainly a major doubt to be involved on Saturday afternoon.
The Gunners are already short of numbers in attack after letting Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Jesus leave in the summer transfer window, replacing them with Christos Tzolis.
However, the Greece international is also doubt to face Everton having missed the last four matches with a hamstring injury sustained in the Nations League draw against the Netherlands last month.
