La Scala's Faust premiere cancelled due to workers' strike

(ANSA) - ROME, 20 OTT - The premiere of Gounod's Faust at La Scala scheduled for Tuesday night has had to be cancelled due to a workers' strike at the storied Milanese opera house. "Due to a strike called by the theatre's staff, the conditions for the performance of Charles Gounod's opera Faust, scheduled for this evening, cannot be met," the Teatro alla Scala Foundation announced in a statement. The next performance of Faust is scheduled for Saturday, October 24, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the cancelled performance will be refunded. (ANSA).
