Saelemaekers undergoes ankle surgery: official statement
“AC Milan announces that Alexis Saelemaekers underwent surgery on his right ankle today in Amsterdam,” Milan said in a statement on Tuesday.
“The arthroscopic debridement and stabilisation procedure, performed by Dr Gino Kerkhoffs in the presence of Dr Andrea Bulgheroni and Diego Mantovani from AC Milan’s medical staff, was successfully completed.”
Saelemaekers is not expected to play again before 2027 as he’ll be sidelined for over three months.
The 27-year-old has played five games across all competitions for Milan this season and provided one assist.

He joined the Rossoneri from Belgian side Anderlecht in 2020 and left Milan twice on loan. First to play for Bologna in 2023-24 and then for Roma in 2024-25.
At Milan, Saelemaekers has scored 13 goals and provided 20 assists in 185 appearances across all competitions.
He has scored 20 goals and provided 25 assists in 203 Serie A matches played for Milan, Bologna and Roma.
Saelemaekers’ contract runs until June 2031.

Milan hired Ruben Amorim as their new coach last summer, replacing Massimiliano Allegri.
The Rossoneri are still unbeaten in six Serie A matches, but have won only once in their last five games across all competitions.
On Thursday, they’ll visit RB Salzburg in the Europa League Round 2 after losing the opening match in the competition against Benfica in September.
