Bank of South Sudan Governor Dr. Addis Ababa ountry Othow says the cis learning from regional experiences to strengthen its financial systems and improve access to financial services.
Othow made the remarks during a high-level forum organised by the International Monetary Fund on the sidelines of the IMF and World Bank Group Annual Meetings in Bangkok, Thailand.
“By working together and sharing technology, South Sudan is learning from the experiences of the region to build inclusive financial systems and invest in robust financial services,” Othow said.
His remarks come as South Sudan continues to face economic challenges, including heavy dependence on oil revenues, inflationary pressures and limited investment in other productive sectors.
Oil remains central to the country’s economy, leaving government revenues vulnerable to disruptions in production and exports. Expanding agriculture, trade and private-sector investment is important for diversifying the economy and supporting sustainable growth.
Othow called for stronger regional cooperation, technology sharing and increased investment to boost trade and economic growth across the East African Community.
He also reaffirmed South Sudan’s openness to investment in infrastructure, energy and technology.
The forum discussed opportunities to strengthen regional trade and investment, including cooperation in tourism, agriculture, transport and regional value chains among EAC member states.
