Aaron Rodgers has added another significant achievement to a career already filled with historic moments. The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback reached a major passing milestone against the Indianapolis Colts, strengthening his place among the NFL’s most accomplished players.
His latest achievement came during a 34-22 victory on October 11, 2026, when he delivered one of his strongest performances of the season. Rodgers completed 22 of 31 passes for 235 yards and 3 touchdowns without throwing an interception. The performance also pushed his combined regular-season and postseason passing touchdown total past Peyton Manning.
At 42, Rodgers continues to build on a legacy shaped by consistency, precision, and championship success. His latest accomplishment connects another chapter of his career with the achievements of the league’s all-time great quarterbacks.
Rodgers moves past Peyton Manning in touchdown history
Rodgers entered the Steelers’ Week 5 matchup against Indianapolis with a remarkable record of individual accomplishments, but his 3-touchdown performance made the afternoon especially significant. According to reporting following the game, his combined regular-season and postseason passing touchdown total reached 582, moving him ahead of Manning and into third place on the all-time list.
The milestone places Rodgers among a small group of quarterbacks whose production has remained exceptional across multiple eras of professional football. Tom Brady holds the all-time lead, while Drew Brees also ranks among the sport’s most prolific passers.
Rodgers’ position reflects the longevity and sustained scoring production required to reach the top of such a demanding statistical category. The distinction carries added significance because Rodgers built much of his reputation through efficient passing rather than simply accumulating attempts.
His ability to recognize defensive coverages, release the football quickly, and deliver accurate throws helped establish him as one of the defining quarterbacks of his generation. Surpassing Manning adds another measurable achievement to that legacy.
A three-touchdown performance powers Pittsburgh
Rodgers’ latest milestone came in a victory that improved Pittsburgh’s record to 3-2. Against Indianapolis, he completed 71.0% of his passes, threw for 235 yards, and recorded 3 touchdowns without an interception. His 125.1 passer rating reflected an efficient performance against the Colts.
The outing followed a productive performance against Cincinnati, when Rodgers threw for 292 yards and 3 touchdowns in a 30-27 Steelers victory. He also recorded 3 touchdown passes in Pittsburgh’s 27-24 loss to Cleveland, giving him 3 consecutive games with at least 3 passing touchdowns.
That streak matched a Steelers franchise achievement previously accomplished by Terry Bradshaw. Rodgers’ performance added another milestone to his second season in Pittsburgh, where he returned in 2026 after joining the franchise in 2025.
Rodgers’ career puts the milestone in perspective
Rodgers entered the NFL after Green Bay selected him 24th overall in the first round of the 2005 draft. He spent 18 seasons with the Packers before joining the New York Jets in 2023, a move overshadowed by the torn Achilles tendon he suffered during his first regular-season game with New York.
After returning in 2024, he continued his career in Pittsburgh, bringing decades of experience to another franchise. His Green Bay years established the foundation for his historical standing. Rodgers led the Packers to a Super Bowl XLV victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers following the 2010 season and earned the game’s Most Valuable Player award.
Rodgers’ passing touchdown milestone also highlights the different paths taken by the NFL’s greatest quarterbacks. His reputation rests on a combination of accuracy, arm talent, improvisation, and remarkably efficient decision-making during his prime.
Fun fact: Aaron Rodgers has won four Associated Press NFL Most Valuable Player awards, the second-most in league history behind Peyton Manning.
Pittsburgh gives Rodgers another chapter in his legacy
Rodgers’ move to Pittsburgh brought his career to a franchise with its own celebrated quarterback history. Bradshaw led the Steelers to 4 Super Bowl championships during the 1970s, while Roethlisberger won 2 titles and became one of the most productive passers in team history. Rodgers now joins that lineage as an accomplished veteran pursuing success with a different organization.
His early 2026 performances have included both setbacks and productive stretches. Pittsburgh lost to New England in Week 2 and Cleveland in Week 4, but victories over Atlanta, Cincinnati, and Indianapolis helped the Steelers reach a winning record after 5 games. Rodgers’ touchdown production has been a defining feature of that uneven start.
The broader significance of the milestone extends beyond Pittsburgh’s immediate results. Passing Manning in combined regular-season and postseason touchdowns reinforces Rodgers’ standing among the most productive quarterbacks in NFL history, regardless of team changes late in his career.
The numbers behind Rodgers’ historic consistency
Rodgers’ achievement becomes even more notable when measured against other elite quarterbacks’ repeated scoring performances. His game against Indianapolis was the 90th of his career with at least 3 touchdown passes, placing him alongside Brady, Brees, and Manning in a select historical group.
The Colts matchup also featured a significant contribution from running back Jaylen Warren. Rodgers connected with Warren on an 80-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter, marking the milestone-breaking throw that moved him past Manning. Two additional touchdown passes to Pat Freiermuth brought Rodgers’ combined total to 582.
The accomplishment arrived during a season in which Rodgers has continued to add to his career totals while adapting to Pittsburgh’s offense. His historical ranking is now firmly established, with Brady and Brees remaining the only quarterbacks ahead of him in combined regular-season and postseason passing touchdowns.
