US President Donald Trump stated Thursday that the United States is evaluating potential military strikes against Iranian nuclear installations, including the fortified underground facility at Pickaxe Mountain.
In an interview with Newsmax, President Trump indicated that any operation against the fortified complex would aim to neutralize potential nuclear development without the deployment of ground forces.
Addressing reports regarding the potential employment of heavy conventional munitions, President Trump clarified that the “mother of all bombs” is a non-nuclear, high-yield conventional weapon, though he refrained from confirming whether its deployment had been authorized.
President Trump stated that previous military actions had significantly impaired Iran’s nuclear capabilities, emphasizing that the overarching objective remains permanently preventing Tehran from acquiring nuclear weaponry.
Despite the military signaling, President Trump expressed confidence that regional hostilities would conclude shortly, disclosing that Iranian officials have engaged in direct negotiations with Washington.
He added that Iranian representatives requested a pause in military operations while talks proceed, predicting that a resolution would lead to a rapid decrease in global energy and gas prices. – KUNA
