🏈 NFL Films released the trailer for the HBO Original documentary on former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kordell Stewart, which debuts on Oct. 27 at 9 p.m.

The title of the documentary is “Kordell Stewart: Slash & Burn.” It will cover Stewart’s rise to stardom with the Steelers and the challenges he faced after persistent, false rumors emerged regarding his sexuality in 1998.

“I was told I got arrested in Schenley Park for lewd acts. … To try to destroy someone because of a damn game of football, bro,” Stewart said in the trailer.

Former Steelers running back Jerome Bettis, head coach Bill Cowher, linebacker Earl Holmes and Bob Pompeani of KDKA are also featured in the trailer.

“Once a rumor like that sticks, it sticks,” Holmes said.

Bettis said: “At that time, I don’t think Pittsburgh was super comfortable having a Black quarterback. … The rest of that season he retreated inward and felt betrayed.”
