After protests over the cost of living spiralled into violence and looting in many French towns on Saturday, the Gilet Jaune movement has announced 'Act II' for Saturday, October 24th.
Saturday saw violence and looting at the margins of protests over the rising cost of living, combined with student protests about education funding.
The formal protests were supported by a number of groups including political parties and trade unions, but the original call for October 17th protests came from social media accounts claiming to be part of the 'yellow vest' movement.
On Monday, as France counts the cost of the damage, a yellow vest website published a call for 'Act II' to take place on Saturday, October 24th, with demos listed in dozens of towns and cities around France.
It is not clear at this stage how many people will support the protests - or even if they will be allowed to go ahead.
In his TV address to the nation on Sunday night, President Emmanuel Macron said that local authorities would be able to ban demos in order to "protect their towns".
Unions had already called cross-sector strikes for Thursday, November 5th, in protest at cost-cutting measures in the budget.
