Egyptian university students aged 18 and above can register for 12 months of free access to Google’s AI Plus plan under a joint initiative by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and Google.
Registration is open until 31 December 2026, and each student’s subscription begins on the date they sign up. The annual plan is valued at approximately EGP 3,000 (USD 57).
The initiative, titled “One Million Egyptian Students Create with Gemini,” will help students use artificial intelligence in education, research and innovation while encouraging informed and responsible use.
It also includes training programmes throughout the year to broaden access to AI tools for students at universities across Egypt and support the development of young people’s digital skills.
The subscription includes access to Google’s Gemini assistant and Gemini Notebook, previously known as NotebookLM. Students can use the tools to summarize lecture notes, textbooks and other study materials, prepare for exams, and support research.
Gemini Notebook also offers research assistance and audio and interactive summaries, including summaries of books up to 200 pages.
Other features include tools designed to help students understand complex questions, generate images using Google’s Nano Banana model, and create video clips of up to 10 seconds using the Omni model within Gemini.
The plan also provides 400 Giga Bytes (GB) of cloud storage for educational materials and other files.
Eligible students can register through Google’s dedicated student offer website advertisements.
The offer follows a similar programme Google launched in Egypt last year, providing university students with a year of free access to advanced AI tools. The latest initiative also extends the offer to other Arab countries, including Algeria, Morocco, Iraq and Jordan. Google Gemini is available in Arabic on Android and iOS devices.
