New Delhi: Nepal Prime Minister Balen Shah is preparing to visit India towards November end in what would be his maiden foreign trip as PM in a bilateral format.
Shah's proposed three-day India visit could be organised in November third week. From major infrastructure projects to flood reconstruction, Shah's India visit is expected to have a packed agenda, ET has learnt. Several India-backed infrastructure projects could be inaugurated or launched during Shah's visit.
Bangladesh PM Tarique Rahman is also exploring visiting India in November or early December as both sides prepare to renew Ganges water sharing treaty, ET has learnt. No dates have been finalised yet. The 30-year water sharing treaty signed on December 12, 1996, expired on December 12, 2026. It manages the sharing of the Ganges waters at the Farakka Barrage in West Bengal during the lean season from January 1 to May 31 every year.
