Don’t let that Apple TV subscription go to waste just because Slow Horses has ended. Here are your next TV shows to watch.
Season six of Slow Horses has sadly wrapped up. The finale dropped today, and if you’re anything like us, you binged it immediately on your lunch break. This leaves quite a gap in our evenings and has us pondering what we’ll discuss with our colleagues now. Don’t worry, we’ve got Slow Horses seasons seven and eight confirmed, but we’ll still have a while to wait.
So, how will you make use of your Apple TV subscription in the meantime? Thankfully, there are plenty of incredible TV series to enjoy on the streaming platform, as it doesn’t seem to miss when it comes to dramas. Here are all the Apple TV shows to watch if you enjoyed Slow Horses.
Nocturne
If Stephen Graham’s involved, we’re in. This time, he’s the bad guy, and he does it exceptionally well. If you spend your commute listening to true crime podcasts, this is one for you.
This Apple TV show is adapted from the bestselling crime novels by Lars Kepler. Nocturne follows Jonah Lynn (Liev Schreiber), an ex-soldier turned homicide detective who, tired of working the tough streets of Philadelphia, moves to a small town in western Pennsylvania for a quiet life. But when a missing boy returns while his sister remains missing, the police must pick up a cold case and try to get information from the imprisoned serial killer Jurek Walter (Stephen Graham), whom they suspect was responsible for the abductions.
This isn’t your usual true crime drama, as the serial killer is already imprisoned rather than the story focusing on the hunt for them. Honestly, this unnerving thriller will demand all your attention once you start it.
Watch Nocturne from 30 October on Apple TV.
Pluribus
This is quite a different beat from Slow Horses, but it’s another exceptional series from Apple TV. Pluribus follows Carol Sturka, a romantasy author who is immune to an alien virus that has turned humanity into a contented hive mind. As she resists assimilation, she searches for a way to reverse it. Basically, everyone is ridiculously happy except her, and she just can’t stand it. Carol is one of only 13 people in the world who are immune, and together they must find a way out of this.
It’s from the creator of Breaking Bad, so you just know it’s only going to get better with more seasons. Season one is available on Apple TV, but unfortunately, we’ve got a while to wait for season two.

Shrinking
Not spies, but… shrinks? And you know any TV show involving psychoanalysis will have us hooked. Shrinking follows therapist Jimmy Laird (Jason Segel), who, while coping with personal loss, abandons traditional methods to tell his patients exactly what he thinks, affecting their lives and his own circle.
Just like Slow Horses, it’ll have you laughing so hard you cry… and then suddenly crying for real. It’s a gorgeous blend of humour and heart. Shrinking features an incredible cast, including SNL’s Heidi Gardner, Harrison Ford, Jessica Williams and Luke Tennie.
Keep watching until season two so you get to see a familiar grumpy face: Ted Lasso’s Brett Goldstein.

Severance
If Slow Horses gets to the heart of Britishness, then Severance gets to the heart of office culture. If you’re on social media, you’ll have seen the memes by now, so wouldn’t it be great to finally understand them? It’s like when everyone was watching Succession and yelling about ludicrously capacious bags.
Severance follows office workers at Lumon Industries who undergo a procedure that splits their memories between work and personal life, creating two separate identities. Maybe it’s slightly more extreme, but I think we can all relate to that split between our work selves and personal selves. Or to being shocked when a friend suddenly adopts a different voice to join a Zoom call with their manager.
Directed by Ben Stiller, Severance stars Britt Lower, Adam Scott, Patricia Arquette and more. They’re currently filming season three, so make sure to catch up on the first two seasons before it releases in 2027.

Presumed Innocent
Let’s get back to crime, as that’s such a central part of the appeal of Slow Horses. Presumed Innocent is an American legal thriller anthology series. The first season starred Jake Gyllenhaal and was based on the novel of the same name by Scott Turow.
A prosecutor becomes the prime suspect in the murder of his colleague, with whom he was having an affair. Sex, scandal and suspicion, all wrapped up in eight tense episodes. It keeps you guessing throughout, with countless twists and turns, and you never know whether to believe the protagonist right up until the last minute.
Season two is in the works and will be based on the novel Dissection Of A Murder by Jo Murray.

Down Cemetery Road
Down Cemetery Road is from the executive producers of Slow Horses, so you’re guaranteed another cosy British thriller with great dialogue. When a house mysteriously explodes in the Oxford suburbs and a young girl goes missing, a concerned neighbour teams up with a private investigator to find out the truth. Before they know it, they’re in the middle of a chilling government conspiracy.
It’s Emma Thompson like you’ve never seen her before, plus there’s Ruth Wilson. We can’t resist an unlikely duo, and the back-and-forth between these two incredible actors is irresistible.

Criminal Record
Seasoned pros clashing over cases: isn’t that one of the highlights of Slow Horses? Well, experience that same generational divide in Criminal Record. This British crime thriller follows two detectives, one a seasoned veteran and the other early in her career, as they clash over an old murder case after an anonymous phone call draws them into it.
It’s dark, daunting and has you constantly questioning your own morals as you watch. It’s one to debate with your partner after every episode.
