PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested a civil servant suspected of soliciting and accepting bribes amounting to RM30 million from several companies.
According to an MACC source, the suspect is believed to have received the bribes between 2025 and this year as kickbacks for helping the companies reduce RM140 million in assessment taxes.
The source said the suspect, a government unit director in his 50s, was arrested at 12.30am today at a hotel in the Klang Valley.
The Putrajaya magistrates' court later granted a six-day remand order against the suspect.
MACC chief commissioner Abd Halim Aman confirmed the arrest.
