Football:
Florida State’s RB room is down to Quintrevion Wisner and Amari Thomas. The good news is that FSU will have two weeks to get them ready to carry the load out of the backfield vs. Clemson on Saturday in Doak Campbell stadium, another primetime affair.

Mike Norvell spoke to the media yesterday and said that FSU is not in the business of being close; at this point it’s difficult expect much as things continue to trend in the wrong direction but he remains confident about the rest of the season.
Unfortunately, they’ll have to do it without the rest of the year without Ousmane Kromah and it’s time for someone else to step up.
“Unfortunate. The injury with Ous it’s heartbreaking for me. … He’ll miss the remainder of this season. He was here last night in good spirits for his teammates, but everybody’s hurting for him. … Just a really special young man and very tough, and he’ll definitely be missed for the remainder of the year but does open up the door for opportunities for other guys.”
Ashton Daniels is playing some of the best football of his career and he’s once again been named ACC Quarterback of the Week:

It’s a bye week so there’s no opponent to move on to and every football media person, especially those that played offensive line, almost universally agree that this was not a holding penalty:
Couple of things that upset me about this
— Geoff Schwartz (@geoffschwartz) October 18, 2026
A) it’s not holding. He chops his arm down and he lost his balance
B) this is very important. Holding is only supposed to be called if it could effect the play. The DE is double teamed and the ball is gone at the time of the “holding”.… https://t.co/93b07YnTVT
Rewatching FSU vs MIA. That holding call on the 1st Hail Mary was insane… was an absolute miss… the LT literally CHOPPED the DE’s stab… wow.

And on the final play of the game the refs never considered another outcome because they truly had no idea what happened on the field because they couldn’t see it but they felt forced to make a decision. Bud is right about there needing to be a mechanism where you can go straight to review if you were not in a position to make a clear determination:
It’s time for a new replay procedure.

Given the amount of deference that is given to the on-field call and the standard of indisputable evidence to overturn, we need to have an option for refs to no call and go straight to replay if they truly were not able to see what happened pic.twitter.com/o0idewlvtT
Some very sad news as former FSU assistant and NCSU head coach Chuck Amato passed away at the age of 80. Amato spent 21 years at Florida State in two separate stints from 1982-1999 & 2007-2009. Amato had been battling throat cancer since 2009.

And on Saturday we could see an early glimpse of what a complete FSU looks like; Alex Steen has been cleared to suit up for the Seminoles:
It’s a major boost to Florida State’s frontcourt. Steen, who has been around the team and practicing throughout the preseason, averaged 6.8 points and a team-high 5.8 rebounds per game last season for the Seminoles. His addition, after FSU coach Luke Loucks advocated furiously for Steen on social media and in press conference settings, gives the Seminoles a second strong center option alongside 7-foot freshman Marcis Ponder, who paired 13 points with 21 rebounds (12 offensive) in the Seminoles’ exhibition win over Auburn last Wednesday.

FSU should have one of the better frontcourts in the country.
It was a six-point weekend for FSU Soccer as FSU remains undefeated in conference play 3-0-2:

This could be the year where Scottie Barnes ascends to a top-ten player in the NBA. The Ringer ranked 18th overall heading into the 2026-2027 season.
Preseason question: What will Barnes’s final form even look like? Every game that he plays is a hint of what he’ll someday become. We know what he is now, at 25 years old: a toolsy forward who can do a bit of everything, at a volume and with an impact that can be overwhelming. He has the open-ended jack-of-all-trades potential to be anything the Raptors might need, but he also plays the kind of world-class defense that keeps him anchored at all times. His game could go anywhere. Could Barnes be the Defensive Player of the Year? A first-option scorer? An intangible connector who makes everything around him make sense? All of the above? Barnes isn’t a perfect player, but he rises to meet challenges—and every time he does, he widens our view of what he might be capable of. The Raptors’ trade for Kawhi Leonard had as much to do with the team’s specific needs as it did with Barnes being ready to compete for something more. Pushing the team forward is the only way to see where Scottie’s limits really are.
