KOHIMA, October 21 (SHABD): The Naga People’s Front (NPF) marked its 64th Foundation Day in Kohima on Tuesday, with party president and chief minister Neiphiu Rio calling for organisational renewal, stronger grassroots engagement and greater participation of women and youth.
Addressing party leaders and workers, Rio stressed the need to adapt to changing times while upholding the NPF’s founding principles and commitment to public service. He urged party workers to strengthen the organisation across all 60 Assembly constituencies in Nagaland, emphasising that public trust must be earned through sincerity, accessibility and service.
On the Naga political issue, Rio reiterated the party’s commitment to an honourable, inclusive and acceptable solution. He appealed to all negotiating parties and civil society groups to place the aspirations of the Naga people above individual and organisational differences.
Expressing concern over the continuing violence and suffering in Manipur, Rio conveyed solidarity with affected families and communities. He called for reconciliation, the restoration of trust and lasting peace in the state.
Rio also emphasised that development must continue alongside efforts to achieve a political settlement. He highlighted infrastructure, education, connectivity, tourism, culture and the creative economy as key areas of focus.
Calling for greater opportunities within Nagaland, he said the state must create an environment where young people can build their futures without having to look elsewhere for opportunities.
Welcoming new members into the party, Rio urged leaders and workers to remain accessible to the public and strengthen their connection with people at the grassroots.
Looking ahead, he called on the NPF to prepare for the next six decades by nurturing new leadership, strengthening unity and working towards a more prosperous Nagaland.
