A Windhoek resident accused of killing his romantic partner and the mother of his child made a first appearance yesterday in the Windhoek High Court.
Lesley Collin Awoseb, who is facing a count of murder read with the Combating of Domestic Violence Act, appeared before Deputy Judge President Hannelie Prinsloo.
Awoseb (34) is alleged to have killed Charlien van Wyk on 16 March 2024 near Wanaheda in Windhoek. The State alleges Awoseb and Van Wyk were involved in a romantic relationship, had a child together, and resided together in a relationship in the nature of marriage.
An argument allegedly erupted between the two on 16 March 2026, resulting in the accused stabbing Van Wyk in the area at the base of her neck. She died on the scene due to injuries.
The matter was postponed to 18 November 2026.
