Rescuers reach caver trapped in Sardinia cave

(ANSA) - ROME, 12 OTT - Rescuers on Monday reached a caver who has been trapped in a Sardinia cave following a rockslide since early Sunday afternoon. Luca Olmetto, the caver trapped for 24 hours in the Gorropeddu cave in Urzulei, has been reached by rescuers who dug by hand to get to the narrow passage where the 31-year-old from Codrongianos is stuck. Olmetto is conscious but has sustained injuries and trauma. Rescuers are now proceeding with extreme caution to free him from the rockfall that engulfed and pinned him down. The operation is complex due to the risk of further collapses. (ANSA).
