The Motor Vehicles department (MVD) and the police detected 159 offences relating to traffic rule violations and imposed fines totalling ₹8.06 lakh during a special drive conducted in Ernakulam district on Saturday (October 17).
Around 100 officials took part in the enforcement drive, which focussed on areas, including Angamaly, Karukutty, Perumbavoor, Aluva, Muvattupuzha, Koothattukulam, and Neriamangalam.
The offences detected included driving without a licence, evasion of road tax, non-payment of insurance, and illegal vehicle modifications, according to the RTO (Enforcement), Ernakulam.
