With Durga Puja festivities approaching, North Tripura Police has put in place an extensive security and traffic management plan to ensure the festival is celebrated in a peaceful, safe and orderly manner across the district. More than 1,000 police and security personnel, including TSR and CRPF jawans, will be deployed at various locations during the Puja period.
The security arrangements were outlined by North Tripura Superintendent of Police Avinash Rai at a press conference held at the district police headquarters on Wednesday. Additional SP Ashish Kumar Thakur and Sub-Divisional Police Officer Jayanta Karmakar were also present.
According to the SP, a total of 275 Durga Puja celebrations will be held across the district this year. Dharmanagar subdivision will account for the highest number with 175 pujas, followed by Panisagar with 60 and Kanchanpur with 40.
To enhance public convenience and maintain law and order, 16 police assistance booths will be set up across the district. Traffic management measures will include six drop gates at strategic locations to regulate vehicle movement and prevent congestion during peak festive hours.
In addition, 19 observation posts will be established for round-the-clock monitoring of law and order. Surveillance through CCTV cameras will be used to keep watch on important locations and major puja venues.
District police officials said special emphasis is being placed on public safety, crowd management and smooth traffic movement. The administration expressed confidence that the comprehensive arrangements would help ensure a peaceful and festive Durga Puja across North Tripura.
