There's nothing particularly unusual about Princess of Wales in a power suit. The one she wore today was a khaki Victoria Beckham blazer and trouser set styled with a knitted, roll neck jumper underneath which felt suitable for the autumnal chill that has set in this October.
What made her outfit different today was that she chose swap her usual bejewelled tiara for a hard hat. It seems that while visiting a construction site, royal or not, protective gear is required.
Today Princess Kate revisited the Treehouse in Ipswich, some 14 years after her first visit. The specialised children's hospital is run by East Anglia's Children Hospital, a charity Kate has served as patron of since 2012.
The Princess revisited the hospital to witness its multi-million-pound expansion that is set to provide families with more space for activities, wellbeing and bereavement support.
To the team at Treehouse she said, 'What you do is inspirational. It is a shining example of the support and the care that is delivered, not just here, but in the children's hospice movement at large up and down the country.'
But while visiting construction sites might not be a criteria for your own workwear, Kate's outfit today was practical and easily something wearable to the office.
In case you don't want to spend over a thousand pounds on a suit, however, we found an uncanny M&S lookalike as well as some other high street alternatives.
