Matthew Stafford just received one of the highest compliments a quarterback can get. Interestingly, it came from one of the NFL’s most talented passers. After the Buffalo Bills edged the Los Angeles Rams in a wild Monday Night Football shootout, Josh Allen made it clear that Stafford’s arm talent belongs in a class of its own. Speaking with ESPN after the game, Allen offered a glowing assessment of the veteran signal-caller.

“If he’s not the greatest thrower of the football of all-time, I don’t know who is,” Allen said. “He’s a guy that every quarterback should strive to be like.”
Coming from Allen, whose own combination of arm strength and athleticism has made him one of the league’s premier quarterbacks, the praise underscored Stafford’s enduring reputation as an exceptional pure passer.
Stafford backed up that respect with another prolific performance against Buffalo. He threw for 383 yards and three touchdowns. He consistently attacked the Bills’ coverage, delivering accurate throws under pressure and keeping the Rams’ offense dangerous throughout the shootout. His connection with Puka Nacua was particularly effective. The young wide receiver set a career milestone by catching 17 passes. Although Los Angeles came up short, Stafford’s production showed that he remains capable of matching elite quarterbacks throw for throw.
The veteran has been a central figure in the Rams’ 2026 campaign. He rebounded from a season-opening loss in Melbourne with a four-touchdown performance against the Giants and a fourth-quarter comeback in Philadelphia. He also passed Philip Rivers for sixth on the NFL’s all-time passing touchdowns list. Through five games, Stafford has continued to fuel Sean McVay’s high-powered offense. He has also integrated Davante Adams and elevated Nacua.
