The Member of Parliament for Ellembelle and Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, has expressed deep satisfaction with the recently concluded National Democratic Congress (NDC) constituency elections, describing the exercise as a testament to the party's commitment to peace, unity, and democratic excellence.
Speaking after casting his vote in the constituency elections, the Minister praised the enthusiasm and orderliness that characterized the process across the country, noting that the exercise would further consolidate the NDC's position as Ghana's leading political party.
"This exercise is going to strengthen our credentials as a party that is very peaceful, very united, very focused, and consolidate our position as the number one party that is really enhancing Ghana's democracy," Buah stated.
The Ellembelle lawmaker emphasized that the visible unity and spirit of togetherness among party members throughout the electoral process demonstrated the NDC's maturity as a political organization.
"As you could see, the unity and the spirit of togetherness is obvious because all of us here understand one thing: we are exercising our franchise to select leaders in a family. And after that, we are going to be united going forward. That is what is guiding us in this election," he explained.
Mr. Buah noted that the peaceful nature of the elections, coupled with the high level of participation, would make the NDC stronger and reinforce its reputation as a party that leads by example in Ghana's democratic journey.
"It's going to make the NDC stronger; it's going to consolidate our party as the party that is really leading Ghana's democracy. So, I'm excited that this is happening," he said.
Reflecting on the national outlook of the elections, the Minister observed that the enthusiasm displayed by party members across the length and breadth of the country was remarkable, especially for a party in government.
"It doesn't often happen that a party in government will have such enthusiasm and energy. But we are seeing it because we are mindful of the people who elected us, and we are in touch with the grassroots, and we will continue to do that," Hon. Buah added.
The constituency elections, which saw party members exercise their franchise to select leaders at the grassroots level, have been widely commended for their peaceful conduct and democratic character. Political observers note that the smooth organization of the exercise reflects the NDC's internal democratic culture and its readiness for future electoral contests.
Mr. Buah's remarks underscore the party's commitment to maintaining strong connections with its grassroots base while continuing to strengthen Ghana's democratic institutions. The Minister's optimism reflects a broader sentiment within the NDC that the constituency elections will serve as a unifying force as the party prepares for future political engagements.
The NDC is expected to build on the momentum of its peaceful and participatory constituency elections, strengthening internal democracy and deepening its engagement with grassroots supporters.
