MOSCOW, October 23. /TASS/. Restrictions on Starlink satellite communications in Ukraine remain in effect, Vladimir Zelensky said.
"We checked at night, early in the morning, then in the afternoon. We checked Starlink in different directions, by the way, in both the civilian sector and on the front line. They always have the same limit: 161 kilometers per hour maximum, or 100 miles [per hour]," he said during an online conversation with an audience at the Washington-based Hudson Institute (whose activities are deemed undesirable in Russia).
According to the head of the Kiev regime, Ukraine still hopes that SpaceX and the US administration will lift the restrictions. Zelensky noted that this could take two to three days or longer.
Last week, the Kiev authorities said that SpaceX had imposed restrictions on the operation of Starlink terminals for the Ukrainian armed forces at speeds exceeding 160 kilometers per hour, disrupting several military operations. For his part, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk stated that Starlink is not used for offensive military operations, but rather for defense and civilian purposes only. Starshield systems are owned and controlled by the US government, and any restrictions on speed or use are set by the US Army and, ultimately, by the president. Meanwhile, the Wall Street Journal reported that it was Musk who ordered the restriction of Ukraine’s access to Starshield.
On the evening of October 22, US President Donald Trump announced that Ukraine’s access to the Starshield military satellite communications system had been restored. However, he refused to answer the question of who had issued the order.
