Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has said Kenya has made significant progress in economic empowerment, healthcare, education and infrastructure under President William Ruto’s leadership.
Speaking during Mashujaa Day celebrations at Kipchoge Keino Stadium in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, Kindiki said the country had made strides in improving the livelihoods of Kenyans over the past four years.
He cited government interventions targeting farmers, expanded health coverage and efforts to strengthen social and economic rights as some of the achievements made under the current administration.
Kindiki said Kenya had also made progress in governance, democracy and civil liberties in the 63 years since gaining independence.
“During that journey, we have struggled with the project Kenya. We have struggled to continually improve the quality of life in our nation,” he said.
The Deputy President said the country’s remaining task was to build on the accomplishments made since independence, with a focus on economic empowerment.
He described the last four years under Ruto’s administration as defining for the country, pointing to efforts to improve access to essential services and strengthen the agricultural sector.
“Under your leadership, a lot of progress has been made to improve livelihood and empower farmers. Cheaper fertilizers, cheaper seeds, cheaper artificial insemination for our dairy farmers,” Kindiki said.
He added that the government had made progress in improving productivity in the coffee, tea and sugarcane sectors, as well as supporting fishing communities and people who depend on the blue economy.
On healthcare, Kindiki said the government had increased the number of Kenyans covered under the Social Health Authority (SHA).
He also cited progress in education and infrastructure development, saying the achievements should provide a foundation for further transformation.
Kindiki urged the country to maintain momentum in the coming years, saying the next phase of development should deliver lasting improvements to the lives of Kenyans.
“Today, we are here to listen to you, Your Excellency, as you speak to our nation to inspire us, so this final push will not only be defining but also permanently transform our country for good into the future,” he said.
The Deputy President also expressed gratitude for serving alongside Ruto, pledging to continue supporting the administration’s development agenda.
