More than 5,200 kite and string manufacturers in Lahore and adjoining districts have been issued licenses for the regulated production of kites and strings ahead of the Basant festival 2027,district administration sources said on Sunday. The sources said the provincial government’s decision to revive the Basant festival had prompted a surge in registration requests with more than 6,000 applications received from individuals seeking official permission to manufacture kites and strings. To avoid supply shortages witnessed during previous celebrations and ensure strict compliance with safety regulations, the district administration opened the registration portal well in advance. The authorities are also conducting field verifications and safety inspections before issuing No-Objection Certificates (NOCs) to applicants, the sources added. They said the registration process was being managed through a dedicated online Basant Portal to facilitate applicants and ensure transparency in the licensing process.
