Tom McKibbin has joined the growing list of players who have decided to quit LIV Golf.
The Newtownabbey star (23) joins Ian Poulter and his Legion XIII teammates Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton in opting not to sign up for LIV 2.0.
Hatton made his announcement on Instagram at around the same time that Poulter and McKibbin used social media to reveal they were joining Rahm, Adrian Meronk, David Puig, Louis Oosthuizen, Charles Howell and Abraham Ancer in heading for the exit.
“After two seasons with Legion XIII, I have decided not to sign with LIV Golf for its next chapter,” McKibbin wrote.
“I will be playing a full schedule on the DP World Tour in 2027.
“Joining LIV Golf was the right decision for me at the time, and I’m grateful for everything it has given me.
“Playing alongside Jon, Tyrrell [Hatton] and Caleb [Surrat] taught me more than I could have imagined. Thank you to them, the team staff and everyone at LIV Golf for making me feel at home from day one.”
McKibbin became the youngest Irish winner since Rory McIlroy when he captured the 2023 Porsche European Open, then turned down one of 10 DP World Tour promotions to the PGA Tour at the end of 2024.
Instead, he signed for Rahm’s Legion XIII team in 2025 and made $18.7m in tournament earnings and team bonuses in just two seasons.
“I’ve taken time to think about what’s best for me and I am confident this is the right decision to help me achieve my goals,” added the Antrim man, who is 83rd in the Race to Dubai.
