LG Uplus Also Highlights Wi-Fi 7 6GHz Commercialization and Global Partner Talks LG Uplus unveiled AI-based next-generation Wi-Fi technology at Network X 2026, a global telecommunications and network exhibition held at Messe Wien Exhibition and Congress Center in Vienna, Austria, from Oct. 12 to 15.
The event brought together telecommunications operators and equipment manufacturers from around the world to share industry trends in wired and wireless networks and AI-based communications technologies. At the exhibition, LG Uplus focused on introducing its AI-based quality management technology and the results of its technology verification based on Wi-Fi 8, a next-generation Wi-Fi standard.
The AI quality analysis system presented as a core technology analyzes in real time data collected from access points, or APs, to prevent customer inconvenience in advance. A key feature is that the AI identifies on its own the causes of network quality degradation, enabling the company to inform customers of the situation and take action before they become aware of the problem.
Also drawing attention were the results of a proof of concept, or PoC, for edge AI technology based on Wi-Fi 8, the next-generation standard. Edge AI is a technology in which a router equipped with a neural processing unit, or NPU, directly optimizes network conditions without going through a cloud server. By eliminating the communication process with an external server, the technology can reduce latency and improve security.
LG Uplus also shared the commercialization achievements of Wi-Fi 7 supporting the 6GHz band, which it introduced last year as the first telecommunications company in Korea. Wi-Fi 7 routers provide a fast and stable wireless environment by using not only the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands but also the 6GHz band. During the exhibition, LG Uplus held in-depth discussions with global partners on these commercialization experiences as well as the direction of development for AI-based autonomous network technology.
Lee Jin-hyuk, head of the Consumer Service Development Lab at LG Uplus and a managing director, emphasized that through this exhibition the company introduced its AI-based network operation technology and next-generation Wi-Fi technology to the global industry, and would continue developing related technologies to provide stable network services that customers can experience directly.
