ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has rejected reports that the party’s core committee and political committee have been sidelined in decision-making, calling the news baseless and misleading.
In an exclusive conversation with ARY News, Barrister Gohar strongly denied the reports and said no meeting had been held to discuss sidelining the two committees.
He said the core committee, political committee and parliamentary party were separate bodies within the party.
Barrister Gohar said all party decisions were being made by the core committee and political committee.
He added that proposals from the two committees were presented before the parliamentary party, where suggestions given by members of parliament were also considered.
The PTI chairman reiterated that the core committee and political committee continued to make all party decisions, rejecting reports that they had been excluded from the process.
Earlier, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said that party founder Imran Khan authorized Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Allama Raja Nasir Abbas to hold talks.
Speaking to the media outside Parliament House, Barrister Gohar said discussions were held on the situation following the imposition of Governor’s Rule and emergency measures in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said there was no bitterness or tension in the discussions.
He said the matter should be resolved once and for all and called for strengthening Parliament.
Barrister Gohar alleged that a group was trying to create a rift between PTI and a major state institution. He also acknowledged the sacrifices of the Pakistan Army.
Referring to the political situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the PTI chairman said that picking up the chief minister of a smaller province would not improve the situation.
He said the party’s long march should conclude, after which meetings with Bushra Bibi should be allowed and the sisters of the PTI founder should be released.
