The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) has announced a six-month schedule for power shutdowns to carry out maintenance and development work on the electricity network, and also advises against outages on Fridays and Sundays.
According to an official notification, the schedule will remain in effect from 16 October 2026 to 31 March 2027.
PESCO has directed relevant departments to combine maintenance activities wherever possible to minimize disruption to consumers and reduce the duration of power outages.
The company has also ordered strict compliance with the approved schedule, saying routine changes or additions to planned shutdowns will not be permitted.
In the event of an unavoidable emergency, the relevant department will be required to submit a formal written request for an additional shutdown.
The notification makes it mandatory for officials to inform key and industrial consumers, hospitals, educational institutions, and local community leaders in advance of planned power cuts to minimize disruption to essential services.
PESCO has also advised officials to avoid power shutdowns for maintenance work on Fridays and Sundays, except where necessary.
It has further directed that all required safety measures be implemented during maintenance and development work to protect staff and the public.
PESCO officials say the work is aimed at improving the electricity distribution system and ensuring a more reliable power supply to consumers in the coming season.
