Menasha is one of 40 national finalists and one of 10 from the Midwest Region in the T-Mobile contest. Menasha already won $25,000 for its football program as a division finalist and is in play for the $250,000 prize awarded to the winner of the Midwest Region in the division champion vote.
The four finalists from the Midwest, West, South and East regions will then go against each other for the national award, with the winner of that vote receiving the $1 million grand prize from T-Mobile.
Final voting will take place from Oct. 29 to Nov. 8 for the grand prize winner.
The Menasha community suffered massive devastation from the EF-3 tornado that struck the area July 27, including severe damage to Calder Stadium, the home field of the Menasha football team.
The Menasha football team has a 7-2 record this season and is a No. 4 seed in the WIAA Division 2 playoffs. The Bluejays will play No. 5 seed Menomonee Falls (4-5) on Oct. 23 at the Banta Bowl in the first round.
