Located in Ilfov County, near Bucharest, the plant can recycle concrete, bricks, mineral materials and glass, with an annual capacity of 450,000 tonnes, Profit.ro reported.
The project received maximum grant financing of RON 39 million out of its total value of RON 87 million, according to the project specifications, as published by Fabricadereciclare.ro. BRD-SocGen co-financed the investment with a RON 61 million loan.
The loan has a 10-year maturity and is aligned with the Loan Market Association’s (LMA) Green Loan Principles, according to BRD.
The investment incorporates state-of-the-art equipment, electric machinery, IoT technologies, automated monitoring systems and an ERP platform, enabling the digitalisation and automation of more than 70% of the operational workflow. The sustainability component is further strengthened by the installation of more than 560 photovoltaic panels, rainwater reuse and high-performance systems designed to reduce dust emissions and improve energy efficiency.
The plant can process more than 450,000 tonnes of construction and demolition waste annually, including approximately 410,000 tonnes of heavy fractions, mainly concrete and asphalt, and around 40,000 tonnes of light fractions, including wood, plastic, cardboard, paper, basalt wool, foil, polystyrene and metals. The project also includes a dedicated glass recycling line with an annual capacity of at least 1,200 tonnes.
The technologies used are intended to maximise the recovery of construction and demolition waste and reduce the volume sent for disposal. The resulting products include recycled crushed concrete, recycled asphalt, shredded glass, metals and alternative fuel.
A significant share of the recovered materials is reused in the Erbașu group’s own operations, helping to close the materials loop and reduce the consumption of natural resources.
